Welcome to our whimsical and extensive collection of Oaxacan Woodcarvings. We work directly with over 40 woodcarvers in Oaxaca. Each piece is signed by the artist and is hand chosen on our many trips to Mexico.
The Oaxacan Woodcarvings were originally created as children's toys by Manuel Jimenez. They are handcarved from copal wood. The early ones were painted with an aniline dye that is still being used today, but most carvers now paint with acrylic paint.
Come visit these magical figures which were featured in Smithsonian Magazine May of 1991.
Please email or call our toll free number to see the work of other carvers or with any special requests.
